# Evidence deleted

> Fires when an audit evidence item leaves scope for an audit. Fires once per item.

The item is soft-deleted rather than removed: `GET /audits/{auditId}/evidence` still returns it, with a non-null `deletionDate`. Stop requesting URLs for the item. If the item later returns to scope, Vanta emits a fresh [`v1.evidence.created`](/reference/webhooks/v1-evidence-created) event and clears `deletionDate`.
